Confidence, Creativity and Taking Calculated Risks

When was the last time you were brave and took calculated risks?

Have you seen the Audi commercial with the guy going to the prom by himself, and (having gotten the added courage needed from driving his dad’s Audi) walking up to the prom queen and kissing her in front of the entire auditorium and prom king? Audi stresses bravery here, and we see courage.

Here’s the video if you have no idea what we’re talking about:

Courage – It’s an important trait.

We learned this through Sam Horn’s What’s Holding You Back and taking stock in her “Six Cs of Confidence.”

*If you have never read any of Sam’s books we would encourage you to check them out…she has one called POP!: Create the Perfect Pitch, Title, and Tagline for Anything that we are in love with – FYI.

Sam’s Six C’s include communication skills, concept, competence, contribution, control, and courage.

All You Need is a Push

Like the kid in the Audi commercial, sometimes all you need is a push; the right ingredient or the right words to push you over the top and inspire you to acts of courage.

But the really important thing to remember is we can be our own catalysts.

The catalysts will be different for each person. What are you waiting for? What will it take for you to go to that next level?

Your challenge for this week is to take things to the next level!

If you have a report to write, add something that makes it better. If you try hard, try harder. Express your creativity.

Channel bravery and do something more than what is expected. Be better than good and be better than excellent.

Be extraordinary!

Every day we have these opportunities, every single day, to exceed even our own expectations and only fear holds us back. Face the fear and ask, “what would I do if I weren’t afraid” and then do that.

Have a story you want to share regarding a time when you were more courageous than a lion? Let us know!
